Session 1: February 7 - March 7

OT Bible: Isaiah 1 (Beth Wade)
Join in the discussion of the Book of Isaiah as we examine this ancient book filled with history and prophecy. Each week we will read or listen aloud to a portion of the scripture together and discuss its meaning. There is no preparation or homework required. Previous Bible study may be helpful but is not necessary. This is a low-key, user-friendly approach to reading and understanding this important Old Testament book of the Bible. During the first five weeks we will be studying Isaiah 1-39.

Christian Living: Peacemaking for Families (Jeff Harding)
Managing conflict well is one of the most important skills and applications of wisdom for followers of Jesus. Peacemaking for Families is a six-week class that will provide awareness, skills, and methods for how to approach healthy and biblically-based reconciliation amidst family conflict.

Christian Living: It's Not Supposed to Be This Way (Women's class) (Amber Blair)
In this six-session video Bible study based on Lysa TerKeurst’s book It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way, Lysa offers a safe place to share your disappointments, fresh biblical insight to get you through painful situations, and life-giving perspectives for living in between Eden and eternity. Join other women encouraging one another to explore peace and hope in the midst of a culture of anxiety and disappointment.

Christian Living: Poetry Collective (Kyle Bradley)
This five-week session will be a time of reading, creating (optional), and discussing poetry as we seek to connect with the heart-places God has given us. We will explore what it looks like to see God through creative writings, worship him through creating, and process ideas and emotions through discussing a variety of poems.

Core Classes - Membership Classes (Dan Borth & Elders)
Are you new to Calvary? Have been part of our church family for a while but want to take your next steps and explore membership? During this class you will learn more about Calvary's core beliefs, discover what makes our denomination (Evangelical Free Church of America) unique, seek to better understand how God has uniquely designed you, and explore what membership looks like for people in our church.

During the first week of class for each session we'll have everyone meet in the chapel after check-in. I'll use that space to highlight the classes/teachers, cast vision for Tuesday nights, etc.

Session 2: March 21 - April 18

Christian Living: Poetry Collective for Students (Kyle Bradley)
This five-week session is specifically for high school students and will be a time of reading, creating (optional), and discussing poetry as we seek to connect with the heart-places God has given us. We will explore what it looks like to see God through creative writings, worship him through creating, and process ideas and emotions through discussing a variety of poems.

OT Bible: Isaiah 2 (Beth Wade)

Previous Bible study may be helpful but is not necessary. This is a low-key, user-friendly approach to reading and understanding this important Old Testament book of the Bible. During the first five weeks we will be studying Isaiah 40-66.

Apologetics: Sharing Jesus in the 21st Century (Dan B / Mike Z)
Apologetics (understanding our faith and defending it reasonably with others) is always connected to outreach. But, to be able to do that well we have to know the Gospel story and how that connects to our own lives. In this five-week discussion-based class we will look at our own unique stories, things that are common in culture, and how to build bridges for the Gospel between the two.

NT Bible: James (Marilyn Pavia)
The Letter of James is easily accessible and a great conversation starter for the person who has either studied the bible for their whole life or is new to Christianity. James references key points from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and calls his followers to live wisely.

Christian Living: Family Communication 101 For Parents (Kathy Salazar)
In this inspiring and very practical class, parents will be introduced to a style of communicating with their children that creates emotionally healthy relationships and empowers them to guide, encourage, and discipline children of all ages with love and compassion. Learn how to talk to your children using language that builds confidence, encourages responsibility, and promotes respect, peace, and family unity under God’s authority.

During the first week of class for each session we'll have everyone meet in the chapel after check-in. I'll use that space to highlight the classes/teachers, cast vision for Tuesday nights, etc.
