Adult Studies & Classes

Calvary’s Adult on-going studies and classes for both women and men offer an opportunity to connect with God and with one another through a variety of studies and schedules to fit your needs.

Studies & Classes for Spring 2025 will begin on January 28 and consist of two five-week sessions ending April 8 (with a break the week of March 4). These classes are for men and women and there are no prerequisites for registering for a class. Doors open at 6 PM. Come early for coffee and fellowship. Classes begin at 6:30 and finish at 8 PM.

Session 1: January 28-February 25

Hebrews Pt 1 (Beth Wade)

The Bible is the story of the redemption of the world. The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that Jesus is the hero-redeemer we need. This important New Testament book demonstrates that Jesus is the better prophet, priest, messenger, moderator and mediator. Hebrews also encourages us to persevere in the face of disappointment, frustration and weakness because of Jesus, “the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Each week we will listen to, examine, and discuss a portion of the scripture. No preparation/no homework. Previous Bible study may be helpful but is not necessary. We welcome your presence at the table!

Deeply Formed: Discussion Group Pt 1 (Dave & Stacey Meers)

Engage in the Deeply Formed experience, a church-wide campaign designed to cultivate spiritual growth. The first step is to join a 10-week Deeply Formed Discussion Group. If you have not experienced a Deeply Formed Discussion Group yet, join this one!
In this class, we explore the benefits of orienting our lives through a Rule of Life (a plan for spiritual engagement). Together, we are seeking to be with Jesus, become more like Him, and do as he did.

History of Christianity (Bob Schulte)

We are best known—and our stories are best seen—in the company of others. The Story Work is a profound course that invites you deeply into the themes of your life by writing and sharing a story from your childhood in a supportive and facilitated small group. You’ll experience attunement, insight, and wisdom as you seek to understand, write, tell, and live your story in deeper and more transformative ways. Your story is waiting to be told in bold, beautiful, and life-changing ways.

Session 2: March 11-April 8

Hebrews Pt 2 (Beth Wade)

The Bible is the story of the redemption of the world. The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that Jesus is the hero-redeemer we need. Deeply Formed: Discussion Group Pt 2: (Dave & Stacey Meers)

This is a continuation of the 10-week Deeply Formed Discussion Group. In this class, we explore the challenges of orienting our lives through a Rule of Life (a plan for spiritual engagement). Together, we are seeking to be with Jesus, become more like Him, and do as he did.
