  • Tuesdays at 6:00 PM

Mid Rivers Campus

Calvary’s Adult on-going studies and classes for both women and men offer an opportunity to connect with God and with one another through a variety of studies and schedules to fit your needs.

Studies & Classes for Fall 2023 will begin on September 5 and consist of two five-week sessions ending November 14. These classes are for men and women and there are no prerequisites for registering for a class. Doors open at 6 PM. Come early for coffee and fellowship. Classes begin at 6:30 and finish at 8 PM. Childcare is available for $5 per child.

Session 1: September 5 - October 3

Bible OT: Job Part 1 (Beth Wade)

If God is good and if God is in charge, then why do bad things happen? Particularly to good people? The book of Job spawns plenty of questions about God’s sovereignty and the existence of evil, and spoiler alert, gives few definitive answers on the subject. Each week we will listen as a portion of the scripture is read aloud and then discuss its meaning. Join us around the table as we break down this ancient text in search of the bigger picture. No preparation/no homework. Previous Bible study may be helpful but is not required. This is a low-key, user-friendly approach to reading and understanding an Old Testament book of the Bible.

Theology/Apologetics: What We Believe Part 1 (Brad Aslin, Mike Zile, and Others)

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "evangelical?" If someone was to ask you what you believe, would you know what to say? Have you wanted to explore your faith more but don't know where to start? In this 10-week class we will seek to better understand the basics of our evangelical beliefs and why they matter. Each week we will be joined by different Calvary pastors, staff members and elders as we work our way through our statement of faith, tackling topics like "The Bible," "The Work of Christ," and "Christ's Return." Whether you are new to faith or have been a Christian for your entire life, this class is for you.

Session 2: October 10 - November 14 (excluding 10/31)

Christian Living: Discipling Your Kids (Jeff Harding)

For this semester's family ministry-focused class, we're having an introductory course to our Theological Benchmarks (TBMs)! The TBMs will be the basis for our discipleship from toddlers through high school, and we're rolling out Phase 1 with Calvary Kids in October. This class will also cover frequently asked questions, such as: How do I talk with my children about communion? What are we supposed to be doing as a family to grow in our faith together? What sort of questions should I be asking my children regarding their faith at age 5? 8? 10? 15? And how will the church and families work together to teach our kids the vital building blocks of their faith? We hope you as parents/grandparents/adults interested in the discipleship of our kids will join us!

COST: $5 per class
CHILDCARE COST: $5 child
